7/12 0:23 page
RONALD RAY SMITH
CONSULTANT ONACCESS FOIL THE DISABLED
12621 Medlar Street r Yucaipa, CA 97399-4955 USA • (714) 790-1927
AT&T Mail: !ronaldrsmith a TLX: 156241563 "RONALDRSMITH"
Dear Building Official:
SAVE YOUR STAFF VALUABLE TIME
You have a problem: decreased budgets, a staff shortage, overwork of what
little staff you have, and increasingly complex building codes that consume
enormous amounts of time. The most time consuming are the disabled access
requirements of Title 24, ECD, HUD, and ADA. It's almost impossible for your
overworked staff to devote the necessary counter time, and field inspection
work, that increasing permit activity is bringing.
2
MORE WORK FOR YOUR STRAINED RESOURCES
Coming up, is The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) that will
require your city/county's pre -1973 public accommodations to provide minimum
levels of accessibility (conforming to tight standards) by January 26th, 1992.
That's only six months away! The Act requires retrofit of ramps & other
critical items in every existing restaurant, store, hotel, etc. How are you
going to handle this surge of Permit applications:
THE ANSWER
The answer is: by working with me, a qualified consultant. I'm available to
work with your Applicant and Permittees one-to-one, answer their questions,
visit their sites, and help them produce plans & specs that comply. They can
benefit from an articulate wheelchair -user as an advocate for their proposals.
No one does it better: That means more time for your staff to do other, more
pressing things.
MY ONLY BUSINESS
Access for the disabled is my business and has been since 1973.
WHEN TO REFER YOUR PERMITTEES AND APPLICANTS:
You'll want to keep me in mind when you see these situations, in the field, or
at the counter:
