ACEVEDO, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to <br />WESCO Utility in the Amount of $22,239.60 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Date: October 28, 1991 <br />Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory on an <br />as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's <br />Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and <br />replacement transformers are needed. On October 10, 1991, General <br />Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these requirements. Bid <br />opening was held at 2:30 p.m., October 24, 1991, in the General Services <br />office. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached <br />showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor, the recommended <br />vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid <br />award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a <br />Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. <br />This evaluation show the true cost of the transformer over its useful <br />lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the <br />trasnformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The <br />result of this evaluation determines the recommended vendor. The low- <br />est evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that bid award be made to WESCO Utility in the amount <br />of $22,239.60. <br />Report Prepared by: Mary J.
