CITY OF COLTON <br />INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />TO: LESLIE STRATTON, City Manager <br />FROM: DAVID G. HALL, Fire Chief <br />RE: NEW FIRE PREVENTION ACCOUNT 01-2102 <br />WITH COMPENSATING REVENUE PROJECTIONS <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 1991 <br />Attached for your consideration is a summary of the proposed <br />1991-92 Fire Prevention Bureau/Fire Safety Education Budget. <br />This is the first time in the history of the Colton Fire <br />Department that a budget has been created for a specific program <br />or responsibility area. In the past, the activities of the Fire <br />Prevention Bureau have competed for funds with the other <br />department equipment and training accounts, both drawing funds <br />out of the same account. This situation lead to unnecessary <br />competition between the various divisions as well as a tracking <br />problem for the Fire Chief trying to focus on department <br />objectives. <br />Also attached is a summary of the projected revenues, produced <br />for the most part, by the efforts of the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br />The legal basis for collecting these fees is established in City <br />Ordinance 05-90, which also adopted the 1988 Uniform Fire Code. <br />The actual account numbers have already been established through <br />the Finance Department and are presently collecting funds for the <br />activities indicated. <br />These revenues are admittedly very conservative in their <br />projected totals and it is anticipated that revenues will exceed <br />expenditures by the end of the fiscal year. <br />My request is that this Fire Prevention/Public Safety Education <br />Budget account number 01-2102 be created and made a part of the <br />Fire Department fiscal management system. <br />DGH:ms <br />Attachments <br />
