TO: HONORABLE MAYOR and CITY COUNCIL Q
FOR: Council Meeting of 19 November 1991 ±
FROM: Jaime R. Aguilera, Director of Community Development' G
SUBJECT: PLAZA LAS GLORIAS LEASE AND VACATION OF RIGHT-OF-
WAY FOR FREEWAY SIGN
BACKGROUND: E
When the Planning Commission approved the shopping center's sign, they required,
and Mr. Sultan agreed to pay a lease of $2,500 per year for the City property upon N
which the sign would be located. It was recently brought to staff's attention that the
lease has not been executed nor for that matter have the lease documents been drawn -
up. D
On another related issue, a recent Cal -Trans ruling may require that the property upon
which the sign is located be non right-of-way property, or in other words that freeway
signs may only be located on parcelized property. A
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff's recommendation is two -fold: first, that the Council instruct our legal staff to cre-
ate a lease document and to authorize the City Manager to execute said lease with the
appropriate Las Glorias party; second, that if necessary the Public Works Director cre-
ate and record a parcel of property large enough to contain the sign, and if necessary,
that a vacation of right-of-way be initiated.
E
CITY OF COLTON O
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
PLANNING DIVISION
R
T
Agenda Report CCLAGLRS PAGE 1 OF 1
CENTRA.
