Vernon Avenue Budget Adjustments <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The intersection of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Centerpointe is designated to <br />be a signalized intersection. The traffic signals for this intersection <br />need to be installed in order to comply with previous agreements for the <br />opening of the KMart store. <br />DISCUSSION• <br />The City collects traffic fees from developers in order to install or <br />upgrade traffic control devices in the area of development. The <br />developer of the KMart store has been assessed traffic fees based on this <br />proposed development, and those fees have been collected. The traffic <br />signals at Mt. Vernon Avenue and Centerpointe are warranted and should be <br />installed before any incidents occur. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. The developers have paid for the signal installation in order to <br />receive a Certificate of Occupancy. There is $406,483 in the traffic fee <br />fund account. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The safety and vehicular circulation of the public will be improved with <br />the installation of the signals. <br />Attachments: <br />r% <br />Page 1 of_ -2 Item No. <br />
