ACEVEDO, Finance Directo SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Date: August 29, 1991 General Electric Supply Co. in the Amount of $15,561.26, Pauwels Transformers in the Amount of $6,060.94 and WESCO Utility in the Amount of $9,081.17 BACKGROUND Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On August 1, 1991, General Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., August 26, 1991, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION Five bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor; the recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The result of this evaluation determines the recommended vendor. The low- est evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that bid award be made to General Electric Supply Co. for Items #4-7, in the amount of $15,561.26, Pauwels Transformers for Item #3 in the amount of $6,060.94 and WESCO Utility for Items #1-2, in the amount of $9,081.17.
