TO: HONORABLE MAYOR and CITY COUNCIL A
FOR: Council Meeting of 17 September 1991
FROM: Jaime R. Aguilera, Director of Community Developmen y K G
SUBJECT: Award of Bid for the Sale of the Cooley House to Newcastle Construc-
tion in the amount of $1,500.00.
E
BACKGROUND:
The Cooley House was donated to the City in 1986 through a condition of a commercial N
development. Being unable to use the building, the City has since attempted to sell the
house. The first attempt, in June 1990, received one responsive bid. However, the
prospective buyer was unable to obtain the financing to relocate it and withdrew his bid.
The second attempt, in August 1991, also received one bid in the amount of $1,500.00
which staff is hereby recommending be awarded to Newcastle Construction.
ANALYSIS:
A
The second bid attempt, in August 1991, included a provision that the house be removed
within 30 days of the date of approval. The prospective buyers have expressed their
wishes to extend the 30 day deadline. To that effect, an agreement has been established
between Newcastle Construction and the City's Community Development Department that R
transfers the City's responsibilities on the Cooley House to the prospective buyers,
including the payment of a monthly equipment rental fee.
RECOMMENDATION: E
The Purchasing Division has properly processed the City's second attempt to sell the
Cooley House and has received one responsive bid in the amount of $1,500.00. Staff
recommends the bid award be made to the single bidder, Newcastle Construction, in the P
same amount.
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE:
CITY OF COLTON
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
PLANNING DIVISION
ATTACHMENT: Agreement
/a
Agenda Report CCCOOLEY PAGE 1 OF 1
