ACEVEDO, Finance Director SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Date: July 27, 1992 General Electric Supply in the Amount of $14,621.35 BACKGROUND Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On July 7, 1992, General Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these re- quirements. Bid opening was held at 3:00 p.m., July 21, 1992, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations sup- plied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that bid award be made to General Electric Supply Co. in the Amount of $14,621.35.
