JOHNSON �j <br />Personnel Director ,J <br />SUBJECT: ADOPT JOB DESCRIPTION AND APPROVE SALARY RANGE FOR STREET <br />CREW LEADER <br />BACKGROUND <br />Robert Trujillo, Equipment Operator II in the Public Works Department, Street Division, requested that his <br />position be studied for reclassification under the City's Administrative Policy 4.05.330. The firm of Comp <br />Plus was contracted with to conduct the classification study. The study revealed that Mr. Trujillo functions <br />as a crew leader responsible for 6 to 8 employees on a regular basis and possibly more on large work projects. <br />Mr. Trujillo assists the Street Supervisor in selected activities and stands in for the Street Supervisor in his <br />absence. Mr. Trujillo's current classification of Equipment Operator II does not provide for the lead <br />supervision of employees. It is recommended that the position of Street Crew Leader be established with <br />specifications that provide for the additional duties of crew leader. John Hutton concurs with this <br />recommendation. Mike Lynd, the SBPEA employee representative, has been provided with a copy of the <br />proposed job description and salary range. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Adopt the attached jo esc 'p 'teze,�I, <br />approve the resolution establishing the salary for Street Crew Leader. <br />Concur <br />City Manager <br />WP2: AGNSCL.
