STREET CREW LEADER Is] 3#4V16lacork, l CITY OF COLTON Under general supervision, participates in the evaluation of street maintenance needs and development of related work plans; exercises lead supervision over assigned crews and coordinates activities with other work crews and City departments; operates street maintenance equipment and engages in work performed by crew members; assists the Street Supervisor in selected programs and acts as Supervisor in his/her absence; performs related duties as required. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS The incumbent in this single position class is responsible for the performance of skilled street maintenance work and the lead supervision of assigned maintenance personnel. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent may be responsible for more than one crew during a workday. The position is differentiated from other maintenance positions having lead supervision by the larger number of employees supervised and acting/assisting role in relation to the Street Supervisor. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Assists in the planning and scheduling of work projects. Supervises and works with crews engaged in the construction, patching, paving, sealing and general maintenance of streets, sidewalks, storm drains, curbs and gutters and right-of-ways. Determines work assignments and utilization of personnel, equipment and materials in accordance with project requirements. Obtains needed equipment, supplies and materials. Makes field checks of proposed projects to assist in the determination of materials, equipment and personnel needs. May interact with contractors and representatives of other agencies in carrying out work assignments. Coordinates construction or maintenance work with other units and City departments. Reviews and may investigate/respond to citizen complaints and requests for street work. Assists in the evaluation of service needs, equipment, work methods and operations.
