CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of August 4, 1992 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council �I <br />FROM: Helen A. Ramos, City Clerkl <br />SUBJECT: Assessments for Demolition Expenses <br />Background: <br />Date: 7/29/92 <br />On February 4, 1991, the City Council adopted Resolution No. R-15-92, <br />authorizing entering into a contact with PRESCO, Inc., for demoliton <br />of certain unsound structures within the City of Colton. The City <br />Council set a public hearing for July 21, 1992 to consider the Cost <br />Report of the Building Official, Community Development Director <br />Aguilera. The July 21, 1992 hearing was continued to this evening to <br />provide additional time to locate one of the property owners and to <br />properly post the property. <br />Discussion: <br />All notice requirements have now been met and the Council can proceed <br />to hear any objections from the property owners on the total cost of <br />demolition of each parcel. The Statement of Cost for each structure <br />is attached. Following close of the public hearing the City Council <br />should approve and confirm the Report of the Building Official pursu- <br />ant to Section 601 of the Uniform Housing Code by resolution. A <br />resolution has been prepared and is attached. <br />The Uniform Code of Abatement of Dangerous Buildings provides author- <br />ity for the City Council to determine that assessments in amounts of <br />$500,000.00 or more shall be payable in, not to exceed five equal an- <br />nual installments. The Council's determination shall be by resolu- <br />tion which shall include, the number of installments, whether they <br />shall bear interest and the rate there of. Staff has prepared a <br />resolution providing for each assessment to be paid over five equal <br />annual installments with interest at the rate of 7 percent per annum <br />as allowed by Section 908 of the Uniform Code for Abatement of Dan- <br />gerous Buildings. <br />Attachments: 3 <br />Page I of 2 <br />Item No. <br />�,oU.')- <br />
