HALL, Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTION FEES <br />Date: 12/10/92 <br />MODIFIED FEE SCHEDULE <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Fire Department implemented an Engine Company Inspection <br />fee schedule of: First Inspection - $25.00; Re -Inspection - <br />No Charge; Second Re -Inspection - $25.00; Third Re -Inspection <br />and subsequent - $50.00. <br />STATEMENT OF PROBLEM <br />During the Council Meeting of December 1, 1992, Mr. Floyd <br />Smith of Smith's Flowers made a presentation to the Council. <br />Mr. Smith gave to the Council a list of 66 signatures <br />representing approximately 4 percent of the business <br />community. The main concern of Mr. Smith was the $25.00 <br />annual inspection fee. <br />Fire Marshal Sork and myself talked to Mr. Smith on December <br />2, 1992, and it was our impression that Mr. Smith's only <br />concern was the annual fee. During those discussions, Mr. <br />Smith agreed that he would support fee schedule modification. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Decrease in revenue to general fund. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve a modified fee <br />schedule of: First Inspection - No Charge; Re -Inspection -No <br />Charge; Second Re -Inspection - $25.00; Third Re -Inspection <br />and subsequent - $50.00. <br />CONCURRENCE <br />Attachments: Res . <br />Page 1 of _L_ Item No. <br />
