CUSTODIAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR <br />DEFINITION <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />Under general supervision, performs custodial tasks and minor <br />maintenance in City buildings and facilities; supervises employees <br />engaged in custodial work during the night shift; performs related <br />duties as required. <br />CLASS CHARACTERISTICS <br />This is a single position distinguished from other classes in the <br />maintenance series by the incumbent's responsibility to supervise <br />and coordinate custodial services on the night shift. The <br />incumbent is a working supervisor with the scope of supervision <br />defined by the Building Maintenance Superintendent. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br />Makes specific work assignments to employees engaged in custodial <br />work. <br />Participates in the determination of cleaning/maintenance needs. <br />Assigns employees to crews. <br />Reviews time sheets for proper recording of hours worked and <br />accuracy of computations. <br />Prepares and submits records and reports concerning work performed <br />and materials, equipment and supplies used. <br />Ensures that work of the assigned employees is performed in a safe <br />and efficient manner. <br />Trains subordinates in cleaning methods, equipment operation and <br />the proper use and mix of cleaning chemicals and solutions. <br />Sweeps and mops rooms, halls, stairways, and offices. <br />Strips, sands, refinishes, waxes or buffs floors. <br />Vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets. <br />Empties and cleans waste receptacles, pencil sharpeners and ash <br />trays. <br />Dusts and polishes furniture, countertops, pictures, and brass and <br />chrome fixtures. <br />Changes light bulbs and fluorescent tubes. <br />
