CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of March 2. 1993
TO: Honorable Mayor, City Council, and City Manager
FROM: Gale A. Drews, Electric Utility Director A
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF QUITCLAIM DEED TO ACQUIRE PORTION OF DATE: 2/23/93
PROPERTY AT 125 W. VALLEY BOULEVARD
BACKGROUND
The Electric Department is upgrading the existing 4kV line to 12kV to provide a
more efficient system on Valley Boulevard. In order to complete this work, a
padmounted enclosed 12kV load break switch must be installed in the circuit.
This is an above ground switch that has dimensions of (H)45" x (W)41" x (L)67".
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
In order for us to provide system reliability, particularly during power outages,
the installation of this switch will enable us to isolate the area and reduce the
length of the outage. This switch needs to be installed at Helman's 4 Sports'
parking lot at 125 West Valley Boulevard.
ALTERNATIVES
The switch in question can be installed in the parkway area behind the curb.
This option might cause a safety hazard because the switch would be exposed to
getting hit by vehicles and affect the esthetics of the area.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
David Helman of Helman' s 4 Sports owns this parking lot as described in the legal
description. Staff checked the price of land in the surrounding area and found
that $650.00 is a reasonable price to pay for this 136 square foot portion of
property. Mr. Helman accepted the offer made by Staff and is releasing the
property to the City through a Quitclaim Deed.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council authorize that the City Manager approve the
Quitclaim Deed and pay Mr Hel n the $650.00 total cost of the property.
Concurrence:
Mark L wis, City Manager
The Quitclaim Deed and related papers are on file in the City Clerk's office for
review.
Page 1 of 1 Y
Item No.
