1 I I RESOLUTION NO. ' i` 3 6 q3 <br />2 AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON OPPOSING <br />3 SENATE BILL 1154 (Watson) <br />4 WHEREAS, the City of Colton strongly objects to Senate <br />5� Bill 1154 (Watson) which would amend Section 1797.178 of, and <br />would repeal Section 1797.201 of, the Health and Safety Code, <br />6 relating to emergency medical services; and, <br />WHEREAS, this proposed legislation assumes that only <br />8 through the dictates of the local EMS agency will comprehensive, <br />quality, and cost effective emergency medical care be provided <br />9 to the citizens of this State; and, <br />10 WHEREAS, SB 1154 precludes the City of Colton from pro - <br />11 viding a higher level of medical care to its citizens through <br />12 the operations of its own Fire Department paramedic ambulances; <br />and, <br />13 WHEREAS, SB 1154 is intended to give back to the private <br />14 ambulance providers what they have lost through the judicial <br />process, i.e., the County of San Bernardino vs. the City of <br />15 San Bernardino, the City of Petaluma vs. Sonoma County. <br />16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of <br />17 the City of Colton does hereby urge the Chair, Senator Watson, <br />and members of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee <br />18 to give due consideration to our city's opposition and vote <br />19 NO on this measure; and, <br />20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution <br />be sent to the Chair, Senate Health and Human Services Committee, <br />21 to our state representatives Senator Ruben S. Ayala and <br />22 Assemblyman Joe Baca. <br />23 PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 18th day of May, 1993. <br />24 <br />MR <br />26 <br />FRANK A.
