AGENDA REPORT
CITY OF COLTON
For City Council Meeting of
April 5, 1994
March 28, 1994
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Julie Hayward Biggs, City Att`9
SUBJECT: Teen Center Lease
As requested at the Council meeting on March 15, 1994, the attached lease
agreement has been revised in accord with the directions of the City Council. A meeting was
also held with Mr. Art Sweet regarding the arrangements to be made by the City with regard
to sharing revenues from any roller -blade operation that may later occupy a part of the leased
premises. As Mr. Sweet is not involved in that operation, however, the City will need to
negotiate the terms of any sublease that may be required with the operator of that facility. AT
the present time, Mr. Darryl Parrish is working with Mr. K.L. Goldstein to reach such an
agreement.
The lease agreement as now written allows the City full discretion with regard to
subleasing to a roller -blade operation during the one year term of the lease. Depending on the
results of negotiations now underway, the City will have the option of renewing the lease at the
end of one year at a significant increase in rent. The City will have the opportunity to determine
over the course of the first one year term, however, whether such an arrangement is in the best
interests of the City.
Concurrence:
y
City M ag
