Barbarick <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Weed abatement in the City of Colton has previously been accomplished by San Bernardino County through <br />a contract between the Fire Department and the County. Staff feels that the process can be accomplished more <br />economically by obtaining a contract directly with a contractor and administering the contract in-house. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Fire Department staff prepared specifications and submitted a requisition to General Services to bid for a weed <br />abatment contract. Advertising took place on February 9, 1994 by posting at City Hall. Bid packages were <br />sent to known prospective bidders in the local area. Bid opening was held at 2:00 P.M., February 22, 1994 <br />in the Corporate Yard conference room. There was only one bid received. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />There is no adverse fiscal impact. Costs will be recovered from property owners. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that bid award be made to Darell W. Barbarick, the Contractor who submitted the only bid. <br />Report prepared by Kenneth L.
