Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF UP TO SIX MONTH EXTENSION OF THE PROVISIONAL <br />APPOINTMENTS FOR RITA CORONADO, COMMUNITY YOUTH PROJECT <br />COORDINATOR AND FRANK GUERRERO, PROGRAM SPECIALIST <br />BACKGROUND <br />Personnel Rule IX, Section 6, states, "The City Council may, by a four-fifths vote, extend beyond six months, <br />the period for provisional appointment. ” Recruitments for the Community Youth Project Coordinator and <br />Program Specialist were initiated in December 1993 and March 1994, respectively. Randy Anstine, Director <br />of Recreation and Human Services, has requested that these recruitments be put on hold until approval from <br />Council is obtained on proposed changes to the job descriptions of these positions. Further, Mr. Anstine has <br />requested that Council extend the provisional appointments of Rita Coronado, Community Youth Project <br />Coordinator, and Frank Guerrero, Program Specialist for six months to allow staff time to conduct the <br />recruitments for the positions with the proposed changes in the job descriptions included. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is staff's recommendation that the City Council approve an extension of the provisional appointment for Rita <br />Coronado, Community Youth Project Coordinator, and Frank Guerrero, Program Specialist for up to six <br />months. <br />Concur <br />City Manager <br />JP/as <br />B 11:AGENPROV <br />Thm No,!� <br />
