YOUNG' <br />City Manager <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BILINGUAL PAY POLICY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 1993 General Unit Memorandum of Understanding states: <br />"The City agrees to develop a policy for implementation in 1993. " <br />A subcommittee of City employees was formed to develop a bilingual pay policy for the City. Information was <br />gathered from department directors and their staff as well as other cities. From the information gathered, the <br />attached policy was established. <br />A copy of the proposed policy was sent to the employee bargaining unit representatives. Mike Lynd, SBPEA <br />Representative, was the only representative that contacted the Personnel Department. Mr. Lynd recommended <br />some minor changes that were incorporated into the policy. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />No fiscal impact since each department will absorb any increase in cost that may be incurred by giving bilingual <br />pay to employees. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the attached bilingual pay policy. <br />Attachment <br />C: agenbili <br />Vem Na <br />� <br />
