.G_Nt/_f1. <br />orroro,6 <br />a <br />1887 <br />d 1 0 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of AUGUST 16, 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: August 9, 1994 <br />FROM: JOHN HUTTON <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION FOR THE SALE OF EXCESS WATER PROPERTY WELL SITE AREA <br />18 & 19 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Colton Water Utility Division owns approximately 2.83 acres of <br />land located in the City of San Bernardino north of Rialto Avenue, where <br />Well Number 18, (which is no longer in service) and Well Number 19 are <br />located. <br />The property is located in the center of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe <br />Railroad G.M. Vehicle Storage Yard and has no public road access other than <br />an easement to and from the Well sites. The property has no developmental <br />purpose, no available utilities and with the restricted access it serves no <br />particular purpose or need, other than access to the two Well sites. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad has submitted an offer to acquire <br />the property, accepting in reserve a 50 foot square parcel, containing Well <br />19, an access easement to the Well Site and an easement for the Well 19 <br />transmission line. <br />Additionally Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe has agreed to seal Well 18 (per <br />State Health Department requirements) which has been abandoned and unusable <br />for many years, and pay all related transferral expenses. <br />Adjacent properties recently sold by Con -Rock to Atchison, Topeka and Santa <br />Fe, having a similar property makeup, were compared for determining area land <br />values, sold for $1.00 per square foot. <br />(3 <br />
