V.GUST 11, 1994 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />POLICE COMMUNI'T'Y RELATIONS OFFICER <br />Under general direction, helps maintain an exchange of open communication <br />relations between the Colton Police Department, the City Officials and the citizens. <br />Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police. <br />Keeps the Police Department informed with up-to-date information regarding <br />perceptions and attitudes of the community toward the Police Department. <br />g g the <br />Develops responses and recommendations to the citizens' concerns. <br />Coordinates meetings between the Police Department and individual citizens so <br />parties can better understand the other's role and responsibilities regarding both <br />Enforcement. g ulg Law <br />Represents the Police Department at local community functions and with community <br />based organizations; meets with various community members to discuss Law <br />Enforcement issues and concerns. <br />Maintains a good working knowledge of gang activities as a source of inform <br />prevention/intervention and playing an active role in diversion. anon by <br />Gathers intelligence of gangs and works with other youth based organizations. <br />Maintains awareness of potential problem areas inan ou <br />graffiti, taggers, rumors, retaliation, gang/youth hang �y � activities including <br />reports this information to the Chief of Police. <br />Assists in training police officers as to the cultural differences in our community. <br />Performs related duties as assigned. <br />
