BACKGROUND: <br />In accordance with the Contract Management Agreer-.; .nt between the City and Steward <br />and Associates, (the "agreement"), Steward and Associates with Rod McDonald acting on <br />behalf of Steward and Associates, (the "contract" and the "project" manager), advertised <br />for construction trade proposals. for the Community Center Project, with a deadline for <br />submission of October 12, 1994, at 2:00 p.m. This is the second time that public bids have <br />been solicited for the aforementioned trades. This second bidding phase was initiated for <br />three reasons. 1) One or no bids were submitted during the first bidding phase; 2) the bid <br />was over budget; 3) due to value engineering, a particular trade was affected substantially. <br />The Contract Manager has accepted proposals as indicated below and the City must now <br />consider and ratify award of the bids under the terms of the Agreement. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Two bids (2) were received for Paving, with the apparent lowest responsible bid being <br />submitted by Universal Asphalt Co. Three bids (3) were received for Structural Steel/Metal <br />Decking, with the apparent lowest responsible bid being submitted from Cowelco. Three <br />bids (3) were received for Miscellaneous Steel, with the apparent lowest responsible bid <br />being submitted from Columbia Steel Inc. Three bwds (3) were received for Rough <br />Framing, with the apparent lowest responsible bid being submitted from C & H <br />Construction. Three bids (3) were received for Cabinets, with the apparent lowest <br />responsible bid being submitted from Stollo Cabinets, Inc. Three bids (3) were received for <br />Roofing, with the apparent lowest responsible bid being submitted from Letner Roofing, <br />Inc. Four bids (4) were received for Drywall, Plaster, Framing, with the apparent lowest <br />responsible bid being submitted from John Jory Corp. Two bids were received for Flooring, <br />with the apparent lowest responsible bid being submitted by Flooring Concepts. Four bids <br />(4) were received for Painting/Wall Covering, with the apparent lowest responsible bid <br />being submitted from Saunders & McMillian, Inc.
