j. r <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Cou it Meeting of February 1, 1994 <br />To: 6D. <br />E A OUNCIL <br />FROM: PA 0 <br />Community Develop ent Direc or <br />SUBJECT: Consider Approval of an application for a Dance <br />Permit per section 5.32.040 of the Colton <br />Municipal Code <br />DATE: January 20, 1994 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Siquio's Restaurant, located at 1395 East Washington Street, has operated in the City with a <br />general liquor license since 1985. The owner, Mr. Hesiquio E. Gutierrez, is requesting a permit <br />to allow public dances, pursuant to Chapter 5.32 "Dances", Section 5.32.040 "Permit <br />Application and Issuance". <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Mr. Gutierrez has provided information that indicates that he has 29 years of previous <br />experience in operating a combination of restaurant and dance facility. The proposed hours of <br />operation are Thursday nights through Sunday nights, between the hours of 8:00 p.m till 2:00 <br />a.m. In addition, dances would be conducted as part of special occasions and functions, <br />(wedding receptions, business buffets,etc.) during normal business hours. As part of the <br />conditions for approval, the occupancy load limits will be set by the City of Colton Fire <br />Department. The City of Colton Police Department shows no history of problems at this <br />location. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Siquio's Restaurant has provided a consistent source of revenue to the City of Colton in the <br />form of Sales and Business License Tax. It is projected that these incomes will increase between <br />12 to 20 percent annually. There is no negative impact anticipated on traffic or on other <br />businesses within the surrounding area. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the approval of the dance permit for Siquio's Restaurant. <br />JCW:tg <br />Attachments: Letter from Hesiquio E.
