Hutton, Director of Public Works <br />98 - <br />SUBJECT: <br />Approval of Resolution Amending Resolution <br />No. R-43-93, Wastewater Rates <br />BACKGROUND: <br />R <br />Date: December 6, 1993 <br />At the June 15, 1993 Council meeting, Council approved the SARI Discharge <br />Agreement with San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, purchasing pipeline <br />capacity in the SARI line. The SARI line allows the City additional sewer capacity, <br />and heavy commercial/industrial wastewater dischargers will be required to connect <br />into the SARI line. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Wastewater Rate Resolution No. R-34-93, adopted on May 18, 1993, does not <br />set a rate for the SARI Line. In order to collect fees from commercial/industrial <br />wastewater dischargers, the Resolution must be amended. <br />Staff is recommending that a $6.00 per gallon fee be adopted for all SARI line users <br />within the City of Colton's jurisdiction. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The City of Colton is paying $365,000/yr. for twenty years. The cost of the SARI <br />line was to be borne by commercial/industrial wastewater dischargers connecting to <br />the SARI line. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached Resolution amending Resolution <br />No. R-34-93 setting Wastewater Rates for SARI Line Users. <br />LJ/Ij <br />J <br />J <br />CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of _ Item No. 4 <br />
