f
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of January 18, 1994
To: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
From: BERNIE LUNSFORD, ACTING CHIEF OF POLICE Date: 1-5-94
Subject: ACQUISITION OF REPLACEMENT SAFETY VESTS
BACKGROUND:
Money or credit accrued by court ordered asset seizure and evidence disposition may be
used for safety equipment replacement. We currently have credit in the amount of
$19,000.00.
DISCUSSION:
Recent tests of police officers' safety vests show a deterioration of effectiveness caused
by long-term daily use. Most safety vests in use by Colton police officers have been in
service in excess of ten years. The police department would like to initiate a plan to
acquire new replacement safety vests.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There would be no cost to the City's general fund or police department budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve acquisition of new replacement safety
vests using asset seizure or evidence disposition credit.
Report prepared by Bernie Lunsford, Acting Chief of Police
Concurrence:
erry oung, City Manager
14
Page 1 of 1 Item No. /C7
