CITY OF COLTON
tetra O
AGENDA REPORT -- e
1887

For Council Meeting of JULY 5, 1994 j foi
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: June 28, 1994
FROM: JOHN HUTTON
Public Works Director
SUBJECT: EXTENSION OF PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENTS FOR SANITATION DIVISION TRUCK
DRIVERS OPERATORS
BACKGROUND:
The Sanitation Division, Enterprise Operation depends upon sufficient Truck
Driver Operators to insure adequate refuse collection that complies with the
Health and Safety requirements under State Code guidelines.
With the recent policy change by the Personnel Department delegating the
responsibility to each department to request extensions of provisional
appointments; it is necessary to request the extension for the following
provisionally appointed Truck Driver Operators:
Christopher Gallegos
Elroy Hudgins Jr.
Michael Rossano
The three employees were provisionally appointed due to the absence of a
Truck Driver eligibility list to draw from. The immediate need for
replacement drivers in this division is due to retirements, the Green Waste
Collection Program, in house transfers, promotions, etc.
DISCUSSION:
Until an eligibility list is generated to draw from, it is imperative to
maintain enough qualified/licensed drivers to insure refuse collection as
outlined under local ordinance and provisions of the States Health and Safety
Code.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None, these are budgeted/funded positions.
