RAMOS CITY CLERK SUBJECT: Resolution Calling Municipal Election for November 8, 1994 and Requesting Consolidation with County of San Bernardino Back round: In May 1985, the City Council by adoption of Ordinance No. 1682, approved Consolidation of its General Municipal Elections with the County of San Bernardino. Discussion The City's General Municipal Election is scheduled to be held November 8, 1994. Pursuant to California Election Code Section 22003, et seq. the City must, prior to August 1, 1994, submit a resolution to the Board of Supervisors requesting consolidation and that the County Registrar of Voters be permitted to render specified services relating to the conduct of the election. Staff prepared the attached resolution to meet this requirement. At the June 7, 1994 Primary Election, the City of Colton voters approved the measure to provide for a four year term of office for Mayor. The four term for the Office of Mayor will become effective at the November 8, 1994 Election. Also at the November 8, 1994 Election, District 1 will experience election by district for the first time and Districts 2 and 4 having served an initial two-year short term will convert to the full term of four -years. The Nomination Period for Mayor and City Council candidates will be July 18 - August 12, 1994 at 5:00 p.m. 1 J101WW fm,4 /
