CLOUD <br />Acting Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Pauwels Transformers in the Amount of $47,834.54 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity <br />and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and <br />replacement transformers are needed. On May 12 & 26, 1994, General Services posted a Notice Inviting Bids <br />for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., June 6, 1994, in the General Services <br />office. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Three bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each <br />vendor. The recommended vendors price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed <br />at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on <br />the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a <br />combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. <br />The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This is a normal resupply of Electric Stores inventory. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends bid award to Pauwels Transformers in the amount of $47,834.54. <br />Report Prepared by: Mary J.
