CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT —` 1887 l f OT4 For Council Meeting of March 15, 1994 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: ANDREA DAROCA *vlt., Interim Finance Directo DATE: March 3, 1994 SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Transformers to Pauwels Transformers in the Amount of $9,141.51 and Utility Products in the Amount of $15,406.09 BACKGROUND Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On February 14, 1994, General Services advertised for bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., March 1, 1994, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION Three bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. FINANCIAL IMPACT No financial impact. This is a normal resupply of stores inventory. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends bid award to Pauwels Transformers in the amount of $9,141.51 and Utility Products in the amount of $15,406.09. Report Prepared by: Mary J.
