JOHNSON <br />Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF UP TO SIX MONTH EXTENSION OF THE PROVISIONAL <br />APPOINTMENT FOR MARK HUFF MECHANIC'S ASSISTANT <br />BACKGROUND <br />The provisional appointment for Mark Huff, Mechanic's Assistant, will expire on March 29, 1994. Personnel <br />Rule IX, Section 6, states, The City Council may, by a four-fifths vote, extend beyond six months, the period <br />for provisional appointment. " John Hutton, Public Works Director, has requested that Council extend the <br />provisional, appointment for six months to allow staff time to complete the recruitment for the position. A <br />written test is scheduled for April. It is anticipated that an appointment will be made before the end of April <br />1994. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is staff's recommendation that the City Council approve an extension of the provisional appointment for Mark <br />Huff, Mechanic's Assistant, for up to six months. <br />Concur <br />City Manager <br />GJ/kd <br />B 11:AGENPROV <br />
