AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of Mav 3, 1994 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor, City Council, and C'ty Manager <br />FROM: Gale A. Drews, Electric Utility Director Date: 4/18/94 <br />SUBJECT: RATIFY 1994 SETTLEMENT WITH SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA <br />EDISON COMPANY <br />BACKGR�OUND <br />In 1992, ,�outhern California Edison Company (SCE) and the Cities of Anaheim, <br />Riverside, ��zusa, Banning, and Colton (Cities) entered into negotiations to resolve issues <br />raised in eiaht separate proceedings initiated by SCE that had substantial impact on the <br />power sup�ply costs and operations of the Cities. These negotiations resulted in an <br />agreement �which was executed in December, 1992. The 1992 settlement did not include <br />the resoluti�on of several items dealing with integration and scheduling of power resources <br />by the Cities. <br />STATEM�;NT OF THE PROBLEM <br />Since the culmination of the 1992 settlement, SCE and the Cities have been working on a <br />compromisE� of the unresolved issues. Those efforts have now been concluded and all <br />parties are prepared to execute the necessary documents and have them filed with the <br />Federal Ene�rgy Regulatory Commission for termination of the open dockets. <br />ALTERNA,TIVES <br />The staff of'the five cities concur with the terms of the 1994 settlement. Therefore, there <br />are no z-easonable alternatives to the execution of the Settlement Agreement. <br />FINANCI�!►L IMPACTS <br />There are no direct financial impacts related to the execution of the Settlement <br />Agreement. <br />Page i of 2 Item No. <br />
