TO: FROM: SUBJECT: BACKGROUND CITY OF COLTON '1 ��44: AGENDA REPORT 1887 I fol DATE: May 11, 1994 For Council Meeting of May 17, 1994 HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL JOHN HUTTON Public Work DECLARATION PORTION OF (WASHINGTON s Director OF INTENTION THE NORTHWEST STREET) TO VACATE STREET RIGHTS OF WAY OF A CORNER OF HUNTS LANE AND BARTON ROAD Centex Homes has requested the vacation of the portion of the northwest corner of Hunts Lane and Barton Road (Washington Street) described in the attached exhibit and legal description for development purposes. This portion of right of way is no longer needed for road purposes due to the realignment of this intersection. The item was reviewed by the Planning Commission at their meeting of March 81 1994 and was recommended for vacation, subject to compliance with conditions as set forth in the conditions of approval and the reservation by the City of all utility easements. As a condition of this street vacation, Centex Homes is required to provide landscaping in the median strip in Washington Street from Reche Canyon Road to Hunts Lane, as well as all landscaping in the portion of public right-of- way on Washington Street adjacent to the land being vacated. (see attachment) RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the Council accept the vacation request subject to the conditions of approval and declare intention to vacate", and that a public hearing on this vacation be set for the June 7, 1994 City Council Meeting.
