R-62-94 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING <br />RESOLUTION NO. R-40-92 BY THE <br />DELETION OF A PAY AND <br />CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY FOR THE <br />POSITION OF CITY MANAGER <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton on April 7, 1992 adopted a <br />comprehensive resolution establishing a Pay and Classification Plan for the City of Colton by <br />Resolution No. R-40-92; and <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. R-40-92 includes a pay and classification category for the <br />position of City Manager which was predicated on the contractual agreement with the City <br />Manager who was employed by the City at the time of adoption of Resolution No. R-40-92• and <br />WHEREAS, it has been the practice of the City Council to negotiate sal w' <br />g salary with each <br />candidate selected for the position of City Manager on a case by case basis depending pe ng on <br />qualifications and experience; and <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of a pay and classification category for the position of City <br />Manager in Resolution No. R-40-92 has created a situation in which the City Council may be <br />bound by that pay and classification schedule in recruiting new city managers as the need for <br />such recruitment occurs without regard to qualification or experience of the candidates who may <br />be selected to fill that position contrary to the traditional practice of the City Council which has <br />been to negotiate salary with every candidate for City Manager on a case by case basis. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE, THE <br />AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1.
