CITY OF COLTON -5`4'a o AGENDA REPORT 1887 �1 —w- I, I fOT For Council Meeting of November 1, 1994 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: October 20, 1994 FROM: PAULA CHAMBERLAIN Finance Director SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $9,598.37 and to Utility Products in the Amount of $3,180.78 BACKGROUND: Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On September 22, 1994, General Services posted a Notice Inviting Bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., October 18, 1994, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION: Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit price quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is a normal resupply of Electric Stores inventory. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends bid award for these transformers to Kuhlman Electric in the amount of $9,598.37 and to Utility Products in the amount of $3,180.78.
