CITY OF COLTON <br />-5`4'a o <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />1887 <br />�1 —w- I, <br />I fOT <br />For Council Meeting of November 1, 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: October 20, 1994 <br />FROM: PAULA CHAMBERLAIN <br />Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $9,598.37 and <br />to Utility Products in the Amount of $3,180.78 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity <br />and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and <br />replacement transformers are needed. On September 22, 1994, General Services posted a Notice Inviting Bids <br />for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., October 18, 1994, in the General Services <br />office. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each <br />vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed <br />at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on <br />the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a <br />combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit price quoted by the vendor. <br />The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This is a normal resupply of Electric Stores inventory. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends bid award for these transformers to Kuhlman Electric in the amount of $9,598.37 and to <br />Utility Products in the amount of $3,180.78. <br />Report Prepared by: :Mary J.X! y, Acting Purchasing Manager <br />City Manager's Concurrence: <br />Attachments: (2) Bid Analysis and Load Loss Evaluation <br />Page 1 of __I Item No. 43 <br />
