CITY OF COLTON <br />AGREEMENT FOR CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SERVICES <br />PLAN CHECK ENGINEER <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 10th day of November, 1994, by and between the <br />CITY OF COLTON, a municipal corporation, hereinafter referred to as "City," and Randy Y. Lai hereinafter <br />referred to as "Employee." <br />I <br />RECITALS <br />The City needs and requires the services of a contract employee for the purpose of coordinating and <br />assisting in the review of commercial, industrial, and residential building and development plans for structural <br />integrity and compliance with applicable code and permit requirements; reviewing the work of outside plan <br />check engineers and consultants. <br />City and Employee therefore agree as follows: <br />II <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />Employee shall act in the capacity of a Contract City Employee with the following duties: <br />(a) Examine plans of commercial, industrial, single and multi -family buildings to determine <br />compliance with the provisions of the City construction codes; approve plans that comply and <br />issue permits. <br />(b) Evaluate engineering reports, soil analysis reports, and other test reports. <br />(c) Confer with architects, engineers and contractors on proposed projects to resolve unusual <br />problems. <br />(d) Conduct field inspections to determine structural soundness or proper installation of unusual <br />designs, material or equipment as necessary. <br />(e) Compile complex and comprehensive plan check correction lists, originally and/or from lists <br />prepared by outside engineering consultants and other regulatory agencies. <br />(f) Analyze structural and energy design calculations for accuracy and compliance with state and <br />local requirements. <br />(g) Make recommendations on corrections of defects or inadequacies and require that deficiencies <br />be corrected to comply with pertinent city codes. <br />(h) Advise and consult with builders, engineers, consultants, contractors, architects, designers and <br />the general public concerning code, permit and plan review requirements. <br />(i) Coordinate division plan check processes with other City departments and other appropriate <br />agencies. <br />- 1 - <br />
