CITY OF COLTON
rrorot
AGENDA REPORT"—`""
O 1 OLS
For Council Meeting of November 15, 1994
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: November 9, 1994
FROM: PAULA CHAMBERLAIN
Finance Director
SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Wood Poles for the New Transmission Line to J.H. Baxter in the Amount of
$52,300.08.
BACKGROUND:
The Electric Department is in the process of purchasing materials to install a new transmission line. They have
a requirement to purchase wood poles for this line. On October 17 & 24, 1994, General Services advertised
for bids for this requirement. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., November 1, 1994, in the Corporate Yard
Conference Room. Three bids were received and evaluated by the City's Principal Electrical Engineer and our
consultant from the firm of Black & Veatch.
Attached is a Bid Analysis showing price and delivery for each bidder. The recommended vendor's price is
underlined. The low bidder, North Pacific Lumber took exception to the specifications by exceeding the
number of knots per foot allowed. The second lowest bidder, J.H. Baxter meets all specifications.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This project is being funded by bond sale revenue.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends bid award be made to J.H.
