CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of
November 15, 1994
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Randy Anstine, Director of Recreation & Human Services
SUBJECT: Authorization to Submit Grant Application for
Environmental Enhancement & Mitigation Funds
DATE: November 3, 1994
RECOMNMNDATION:
A. Approve the Resolution approving the application for grant funds for the Environ-
mental Enhancement and Mitigation Program, under Section 164.56 of the Streets
and Highway Code, for the South La Cadena Roadside Rest Project.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTIONS:
1. Approve as recommended by staff; or,
2. Deny.
AUTHORITY:
The legislature of the State of California has enacted AB 471 (Chapter 106 of the Statutes
of 1989), which intended to provide $10 million annually for a period of ten years, for grant
funds to local, state and federal agencies and nonprofit entities, for projects to enhance and
mitigate the environmental impacts of modified or new public transportation facilities.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Colton during the last funding cycle, made the State recommended project list,
for the South La Cadena Roadside Rest Project. Unfortunately, the project did not score
high enough to receive funding. Staff has modified the last grant application, and has made
it more enticing to the Resources Agency. The total grant amount requested during the last
funding cycle was in the amount of $433,289.00. Staff is recommending that the same
amount be requested for this funding cycle. Staff anticipates that the funding that Council
has already allocated to the South La Cadena Drive Beautification Project, can be used as
a project grant dollar match.
Item No. 9
