CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />for Council Meeting of September 6, 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: August 30, 1994 <br />FROM: JOHN C. HUTTON, <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO CONSTRUCT MEDIAN ISLAND ON RANCHO <br />AVENUE NEAR COLTON HIGH SCHOOL <br />BACK GROUND: <br />The owners of the shopping center on the Northwest corner of Rancho Avenue and Valley Boulevard opened a <br />driveway on Rancho Avenue. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />This area has moderate to heavy traffic movement; together with heavy pedestrian traffic during the school year. <br />This drive way addition has added a left turning movement into this situation. This median island will prohibit <br />any turning movement in this critical area. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Staff has estimated the cost to construct this median at $1200.00 for materials, plus; the cost for labor <br />provided by City work crews to install this improvement. <br />RECONUgENDATION: <br />Staff recommends Council approve the appropriation to constuct this median, in the amount of $1200.00 from <br />the Traffic Fund #47-100-00. <br />CITY MANAGERS CONCURRENCE - <br />Report Prepared by Brian Baden <br />Item 17 <br />
