Winter, Interim City Manager wl� ; 7 <br />Subject: Consideration And Ratification Of Award Of Bids For The Following <br />Trades In The Construction of The Colton Community Center: Masonry/Glass <br />Block, Lockers, Bleachers, Plumbing, H.V.A.C. And Building Electrical <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In accord with the Contract Management Agreement between the City and Steward and <br />Associates, (the "agreement"), Steward and Associates with Rod McDonald acting on <br />behalf of Steward and Associates, (the "contract" and the "projecf' manager) advertised <br />for construction proposals for the Community Center on July 1, and July 8, 1994. The <br />Project Manager and staff opened bids on July 26, 1994. <br />The Contract Manager has accepted bids as indicated below and the City must now <br />consider and ratify award of the bids under the terms of the Agreement. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Four (4) bids were received for Masonry/Glass Block work, with the apparent responsible <br />low bidder being Southern California Quality Masonry. Three (3) bids were received for <br />Facility Lockers, with the apparent responsible low bidder being Engineered Storage <br />Systems, Inc. One (1) qualifying responsible bid was received for Facility Bleachers from <br />Herk Edwards, Inc. Four (4) bids were received for Plumbing, with the apparent <br />responsible low bidder being D.K. Mechanical. Six (6) bids were received for Heating, <br />Ventilation and Air Conditioning, with the apparent responsible low bidder being <br />Thermalair. Four (4) bids were received for Building Electrical, with the apparent <br />responsible low bidder being Electricraft. <br />,FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The lowest bids received for each trade were as follows: The contract bid price from <br />Southern California Quality Masonry for the Masonry/Glass Block work is $69,878. The <br />contract bid price from Engineered Storage Systems Inc., for the Facility Lockers is <br />$8,463.
