Winter, Interim City Manager INP <br />Subject: Consideration to Reject Bids Received Due to the Lack of Adequate Bid <br />Coverage or Significant "Value Engineering Changes" made to the Project to Hold <br />Down Construction Costs of the Colton Community Center. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In accord with the Contract Management Agreement between the City and Steward and <br />Associates, (the "agreement"), Steward and Associates with Rod McDonald acting on <br />behalf of Steward and Associates, (the "contract" and the "project" manager) advertised <br />for construction proposals for the Community Center on July 1, and July 8, 1994. The <br />Project Manager and staff opened bids on July 26, 1994. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Project Manager requests the City to reject and publicly re -bid the following trades <br />due to the lack of adequate bid coverage or to significant "value engineering" changes <br />made to hold down the construction costs of the Colton Community Center. <br />Trade Bidders Reiect Reason(s) <br />Asphalt Paving: Answer Paving Only One Qualifying Bid Received <br />Landscape/Irrigation Mar -Lyn Builders Only One Qualifying Bid Received/Over Budget <br />Metal Decking Junior Steel Only One Qualifying Bid Received/Over Budget <br />Misc.
