AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6, 1994
DATE: August 31, 1994
TO: Honor;Mayor an ity Council
FROM: aviamor
Community Develop irector
SUBJECT: Soils/Geological Studies for Reche Canyon and La Loma
Hills Areas
On August 16, 1994, City Council directed staff to gather data to obtain a
geological/soils analysis of the Reche Canyon hillside area. Staff consulted with
H.R. Engineering, the grading plan check consultant for the Community
Development Department, and GTS Associates, the City Engineer consultant for
Public Works. Both recommended that any study be confined to a specific and
limited area. In order to look at the whole canyon, several hundred thousands of
dollars would be needed. In addition, staff consulted with Kleinfolder and
Associates, and CHS Engineering.
Staff estimates the costs for a comprehensive review and an opinion of say,
Hidden Canyon Estates, would be in the $8,000410,000 range, and for Wild
Canyon Drive about $6,000-$8,000. A study at an undetermined site in La Loma
Hills would be in the $4,000-$8,000 range.
It is now appropriate for Council to direct staff on how to proceed with this
matter.
City Manager Concurrence:
D RZ/kd
jm, 4Go, 4fCa)
