CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT For Council Meeting of September 20, 1994 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: September 8, 1994 FROM: PAULA CHAMBERLAIN Finance Director SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Transformers to WESCO Utility in the Amount of $35,877.51 and Pauwels Transformers in the Amount of $50,608.01 BACKGROUND: Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On August 17, 1994, General Services posted a Notice Inviting Bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., September 7, 1994, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION: Five bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is a normal resupply of Electric Stores inventory. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends bid award for these transformers to WESCO Utility in the amount of $35,877.51 and Pauwels Transformers in the amount of $50,608.01. Report Prepared by: Mary J.
