CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of— . SeUtember 20-._ 1994
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Robert A. Lavin, Water Utilities Manager k)r0___
SUBJECT: Approval of Purchase Orders for the Wastewater Date:
Treatment Plant Operations
BACKGROUND:
On June 21, 1994 Council approved the Kennedy -Jenks Consultants' Wastewater
Treatment Plant Operation Feasibility Study. The study allocated funds for the
chemicals, sludge removal and laboratory testing at the Wastewater Treatment
Plant.
DISCUSSION,:
The companies providing chemicals and sludge removal for OMI have agreed to
allow the City of Colton to assume the agreements with OMI and extend to the City
of Colton the same prices. The laboratory services for the City of Colton's
Pretreatment Program will need to be increased to include the Wastewater
Treatment Plant.
The City of Colton can assume the agreements for supplies and services or go to
formal bid. Due to the time constraints in assuming the Wastewater Treatment
Plant Operations, it is not possible to go to formal bid. All supplies and services are
required to be in place by October 1, 1994, and formal bids require a minimum of
two months to complete. The purchase orders will be for only FY94-95 and formal
bids will be sought for FY95-96.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs for the chemicals, sludge removal and laboratory services were included
in the Feasibility Study and incorporated in the FY94-95 budget.
Attachments:
Page 1 of---- Item No.
