Multi -Purpose Center <br />City Manager Huffaker reported that the lease at the Multi -Purpose center expires October 31, <br />1974, and that he -had talked briefly with Mr. Noriega and he had indicated that there would <br />be no problems at continuing the lease at the same rental fee. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated that he would have City Attorney draw up a renewal lease immediately if <br />the Council decided that this was the way to go. <br />On Council consensus it was decided that the City should seek to renew the lease under present <br />arrangements. <br />City Manager Huffaker stated the City has received a letter from the DPC dated May 31, in- <br />forming us that they would cease funding the Director's position on June 30. Mr. Huffaker <br />said he had received a call yesterday from Mrs. Bea Hernandez who informed him that her <br />position would be continued on a month to month basis, possibly through September. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated that the money for this position is being budgeted, however, there is an <br />error and that salary figure, Account No. 01 should read $7,900. <br />Mr. Huffaker reported that the other expenses are unchanged from last year and additional <br />EEA and CETA funds have been recieved making it possible to fund the clerical position <br />for the entire year. <br />On Council consensus the Multi -Purpose Center Budget was approved. <br />Budget Adoption Procedures <br />City Manager Huffaker stated that Staff is recommending that the budget for this year be <br />adopted by a resolution with guidelines for better control. <br />Mr. Huffaker passed out the proposed adopting resolution to the Council members and stated <br />that this resolution would be presented to them formally at the next budget meeting. <br />City Manager Huffaker reported that the guidelines in the resolution are divided into three <br />areas: Salaries, Maintenance & Operations, and Capital Improvements. Mr. Huffaker stated <br />that with the approval of the City Manager, the monies in the dalaries account - permanent <br />and temporary can be spent and also, in the maintenance & operations accounts the amounts <br />could be interchanged. Mr. Huffaker said that those changes to the Capital Outlay/Improve- <br />ments would require Council action. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated that the procedure of making changes to the budget by resolution has al- <br />ready been initiated and this would continue as it is a big help in accounting procedures <br />for better control. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />City Manager Huffaker asked that the Council adjourn to meet one more time in regards to this <br />budget for the purpose of final discussion on the Chamber of Commerce Budget, expenses, and <br />a hearing pursuant to Civil Service Rules and Regulations for classification changes. Mr. <br />Huffaker stated that the class changes have been discussed with the employees and associations <br />and both concur with the proposals. <br />Exeuctive Session <br />Council adjourned to executive session at 7:58 p. m. <br />Council reconvened. at 8:05 p. m. All members present. <br />On motion of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously passed, Mayor <br />Huntoon adjourned the meeting at 8:09 p. m., to meet for an adjourned regular meeting on <br />Thursday, June 27, 1974, at 7:00 p. m. in the Council Conference Room at City..Hall. <br />"/Lhoz/ a. <br />HELEN A. RAMOS <br />City Clerk <br />Approved this day of , 1974. <br />Mayor <br />Sister City - Cananea <br />Fire Chief Temby reported he had received a telephone call from a representative of our Sister <br />City Cananea in regards to a trip they are planning to our City. <br />Chief Temby said details are rather sketchy, however, time is of the essence and he is in need <br />of volunteer assistance. Chief Temby reported that from his information 54 visitors from <br />Cananea will be arriving here Saturday evening, requiring housing Saturday night. Sunday <br />morning the visitors will require breakfast and perhaps a picnic can be worked out at Municipal <br />Park. Sunday evening they are planning a concert at Fleming Park and again they will need <br />sleeping quarters Sunday night. The departure Monday morning will be to Disneyland, their <br />prime reason for their trip. <br />Chief Temby stated that as soon as he had more information he would pass it on, but at this <br />time, he wondered if perhaps Councilman Hayes would look into the possibility of housing the <br />visitors at the Immaculate Conception Hall. <br />Councilman Hayes <br />JUN 2 01974 <br />and other Staff members stated they would lend their assistance wherever possible. <br />
