Also present were City Manager <br />Calabrese, Assistant to the City Manager Johnsen, Finance Director Holt, City Attorney Edwards, and City Clerk Ramos. <br />RIInUT <br />Fire <br />Fire Operations Officer Teague responded to Council questions regarding the need for plectron radios to be used to <br />call reserve firemen for fire fighting operations, the purpose of the reserve program, the requirements and de- <br />ficiencies pointed out by the Insurance Service Office (ISO) during the last fire rating survey, the fire insurance <br />increase that can be expected if deficiencies are not corrected to retain current Fire Class Rating of 3; the differ- <br />ence of response time to a fire location vs. response time of the city fire employees on a call back basis during <br />their off hours; the purpose of the request for reconsideration of the position of Assistant Fire Chief, the number <br />of entry level Fireman positions; the cost of repowering the 1957 Crown Fire Pumper vs. purchase of a new pumper. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Mayor Beltran, to approve an expenditure of $14,000 from the Motor Vehicle <br />Replacement Fund for the repowering of the 1957 Crown Fire Pumper. Unanimous vote. <br />Moved by Mayor Beltran, seconded by Councilman Gonzales, to delete the position of Assistant Fire Chief for this <br />budget year. Motion withdrawn. <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that this position has already been deleted from the posed budget, the <br />matter has been reconsidered on request of Fire Operations Officer Teague. No action is being taken. <br />Moved by Mayor Beltran, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to tentatively approve the Fire Department Budget.
