Speaking in opposition to the actions taken by the City Council in removingthe C1 y <br />y 1 <br />Manager were the following: <br />Mr. Greg B. Fife, 1245 West "C" Street, Colton <br />Mr. Frank Rebollo, 12800 South La Cadena Drive, Colton <br />Ms. Millie Herrera, 1006 Western Avenue, Colton <br />Mr. Jess Vasquez, 677 South 8th Street, Colton <br />Speaking in commendation of the City Council and actions taken were the following: <br />Mr. Henry Mendoza, 464 West "M" Street, Colton <br />Mr. Elfego C. Vallejo, 800 Valencia Drive, Colton <br />Mayor Gonzales stated that at a later date he will be prepared to give the community <br />an explanation which he felt he owed to the community and his constituency, and it <br />will show that what has been done here this evening will be to the best interests of <br />this community. <br />Councilwoman Garcia stated she would again like to thank all of the people that voted <br />for her, and she wanted everyone to know that she does not accept this responsibility <br />lightly. Mrs. Garcia continued that she takes this position with a great deal of <br />heart -felt obligation to the people to do what is best. Mrs. Garcia said sometimes, <br />and it may be quite often, the Council will displease some of the people, that is <br />(Y, natural. Mrs. Garcia stated, however, that she has to do what she believes in and <br />carry forth the programs that will better serve the people of the City of Colton. <br />Mrs. Garcia said that at times the people may disagree with her, however, that is <br />their prerogative, but she wanted everyone to know that what she does here, she does <br />because she accepted the responsibility of being the City's elected official, and <br />thanked everyone for their support. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - <br />Mr. Frank Smith, 270 West "F" Street, Colton, spoke about the use of a City truck <br />for the senior citizens produce program and felt the City should do something favor- <br />able for this program for the senior citizens. Mr. Smith also questioned some work <br />done by the City's Electric Department and the waiver of a $62,000 fee, as mentioned <br />in the newspaper. <br />Electric Utility Director Gale Drews stated he was not aware of this and was not <br />familiar with what Mr. Smith was referring to. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated there was a waiver of a fee in the amount of $22,000 for work <br />performed in the area of San Bernardino Avenue and Valley Boulevard concerning in- <br />stallation of a sewer trunk line, however, he did not know about the other matter. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilwoman Garcia, seconded by Councilman Hayes and unanimously passed, <br />Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 9:00 p. m. <br />HELEN A. RAMOS, CMC <br />City Clerk <br />City of Colton <br />Approved this 20th day of May, 1980. <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 6, 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on <br />the above given date at 7:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, <br />Mayor Gonzales presiding. <br />Mayor Gonzales led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Invocation was offered by the Reverend Father Michael Keane of Immaculate Concep- <br />tion Church. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Council Members present were Hayes, Cisneros, Rehrer, Garcia, and Mayor Gonzales. <br />MAY 1980 <br />
