143 <br />Plant. Mr. Lofy said the highlight of Mrs. Nieves' life was when she <br />met and talked with Pancho Villa. Mr. Lofy continued that Mrs. Nieves <br />has always enjoyed life and been very active, and even enjoyed dancing <br />at her 100th. birthday. Mrs. Nieves' family and church have always come <br />first in her life. <br />Councilman Lofy then read congratulatory messages Mrs. Nieves received <br />on her 104th birthday from Senator Ruben Ayala, Congressman George <br />Brown, Governor George Deukmejian, and President and Mrs. Bush. <br />Mayor Gonzales and Councilwoman Cisneros then read in full a Resolution <br />of Recognition, in Spanish and English respectively, honoring Mrs. <br />Nieves and her 104th year of life. Councilwoman Cisneros also presented <br />a Plaque to Mrs. Nieves from Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. <br />Councilman Lofy announced there was birthday cake and punch and coffee <br />being served in the lobby for the Nieves Family and friends. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios and unani- <br />mously passed, Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p. m. <br />L0 <br />0 <br />W <br />HELEN A. RAMOS, CMC <br />City Clerk <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 3, 1989 <br />A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held <br />on the above given date at 7:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City <br />Hall, Mayor Gonzales presiding. <br />Mayor Gonzales led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Invocation was offered by Pastor Stephen Anderson of Healing Waters <br />Church. <br />R O T.T. r A T.T. <br />Council Members present were Rios, Cisneros, Rehrer, Lofy, and Mayor <br />Gonzales.
