Moved by Councilmember Cisneros, seconded
to approve the Consent Calendar, with
Unanimous vote.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS:
Proclamation
by Councilmember Rehrer,
deletion of Item No. 8.
Mayor Gonzales read a Proclamation declaring the week of February
16 - 22, 1992, as National Engineers Week. The Proclamation was
received by Mr. Tim Wilson, representative of the California
Society for Professional Engineers. Mr. Wilson addressed the
assembly by offering an expression of gratitude. He informed of
the recent competition being conducted for the youth to expose them
to the fields of engineering and science. Mayor Gonzales noted
that Tim Wilson is City Engineer Glen Wilson's son and offered
hearty congratulations.
Presentations
Mayor Gonzales read and presented a Resolution of Appreciation to
Gary Jackson for his contribution of 2.5 acres of land in the
Reche Canyon area to private property owners thereby saving the
City expensive legal and administrative costs. Mr. Jackson thanked
the City Council for the recognition and encouraged everyone
present to pursue the same goals - to sacrifice in order to
accomplish; to put forth a great effort.
Mayor Gonzales read and presented a Resolution of Appreciation to
Susan Carr for her participation in obtaining assistance from the
County of San Bernardino to increase maintenance at Agua Mansa
Cemetery thereby beautifying and preserving said cemetery. Mrs.
Carr also expressed her gratitude for the recognition and asked for
more information on the history of the cemetery from those persons
who might know if members of their family are buried there.
Planning Commissioners Stipend
Mayor Gonzales stated that Planning Commissioners spend many hours
at meetings, beyond those required of them, and he recommended that
the members of the commission receive $100.00 per month, with the
chairman to receive $110.00 per month.
Acknowledging budget restraints for this fiscal year, Councilman
Lofy requested that staff investigate the possibility of allocating
a monthly stipend to show recognition to other committee/ commission
members starting with budget year 1992-93. The City Manager
stated he would be happy to look into the matter.
t1
FEB 4 1992
