Where do we go from here? <br />• Original Site — 150 Acres, 125 that is in Colton <br />✓ Moratorium in place, which includes land originally sought by Wildlands Conservancy <br />land south of the Santa Ana River <br />• Original "Revised" Site —100 Acres <br />✓ Two significant property acquisition hurdles <br />• North 17 acres <br />✓ Only land officially designated for the Regional Park <br />✓ Land reverts to Wildlands Conservancy in the absence of a Regional Park <br />✓ Wildlands Conservancy has reportedly asked for this land back from the County <br />Community Services Director Smith explained that this completes the update and now open for <br />discussion and direction. <br />Public Comment <br />None <br />Comments or Questions from the Blue Ribbon Committee members included: <br />• Is it possible that the recharge basin could have a multi use, to be worked into the design of <br />park? <br />• Has contact been made with Riverside Public Utilities regarding their participation in a joint <br />venture? <br />• Why did the concept change? <br />• Suggestion that we get Committee members to participate in support of the project. <br />• What is the timeline of completion of park? <br />• Why weren't properties acquired? <br />• Why is Wildlands requesting land returned? <br />• Why weren't alternate locations suitable? <br />• Can another meeting be scheduled to discuss the alternatives of the park? <br />• What comprises a regional park? <br />• Committee is will to work together with staff to support the park project. <br />• Is the county ready to move forward and file eminent domain proceeding against Pico Rivera <br />Pallet to acquire the land needed? <br />• Who owns La Sierra and Pico Rivera Pallet properties, and are they related? <br />• Move forward with whatever it takes to continue with the project. <br />• Acknowledged the continued work by the Council, Staff and Committee. <br />City Manager Parrish explained that from the beginning of the project the City only played a <br />subservient role in helping the County and the Wildland Conservancy acquire some of the property, <br />such as title work, the but no direct responsibility as the County was the lead agency. <br />Dan Flores, provided explanation to questions directed for County Supervisor Gonzales and assured <br />those present of Supervisor Gonzales' continued support of the Regional Park Project in Colton. <br />Recreation and Parks Director Smith added that staff is not sitting idle, and not actively pursuing the <br />Regional Park for Colton, communication continues with the Board of Supervisors and that <br />Supervisor Gonzales and the City remain committed to support the park in Colton. <br />Zuut utU u5 5NC JT CC/RDA/CUA/ PLN/R&P MEETING- 5 - <br />
