<br />The undersigned being first duly
<br />sworn, deposes and says: That at all
<br />times hereinafter mentioned she was a
<br />citizen of the United States over the
<br />age of eighteen years, and a resident
<br />of said county and was at and during
<br />all said times the principal clerk or
<br />the printer and publisher of the Col-
<br />ton Daily Courier, a newspaper of
<br />general circulation, printed and pub-
<br />lished six times per week in the City
<br />of Colton, in said County of San Ber-
<br />nardino, State of California; that said
<br />Colton Daily Courier is and was at all
<br />times herein mentioned a newspaper
<br />of general circulation as that term is
<br />defined by section 4460 of the Politi-
<br />cal Code, and, as provided by said
<br />section, is published for the dissemi-
<br />nation of local and telegraphic news
<br />and intelligence of a general charac-
<br />ter, having a bona fide subscription
<br />list of paying subscribers; that at all
<br />times said newspaper has been estab-
<br />lished, printed and published in the
<br />said city of Colton, in said county and
<br />state at regular intervals for more
<br />than one year preceding the first pub-,
<br />lication of the advertisement herein
<br />mentioned; that said advertisement
<br />was set in type not smaller than non-
<br />pariel and was preceded with words
<br />printed in black faced type not smaller
<br />than nonpariel, describing and ex-
<br />pressing in general terms, the pur-
<br />port and character of the notice in-
<br />tended to be given; that the
<br />of which the annexed is a printed
<br />copy, was published and printed in
<br />said newspaper

<br />ORDINANCE NO. 30
<br />AN ORDINANCE OPV' THE CITY
<br />OF COLTON, PROVIDING THE
<br />RULES AND REGULATIONS
<br />FOR THE USE OF THE PUB-
<br />LIC STREETS AND ALLEYS
<br />IN THE CITY OF COLTON I
<br />The Board of Trustees of the City
<br />of Colton do ordain as follows:
<br />Section 1
<br />The following acts and each of
<br />them, shall always be unlawful in the
<br />City of Colton:
<br />1. The leading, driving or riding,
<br />of any animal on the LEFT HAND'i
<br />side of any public street or alley in
<br />the City of Colton.
<br />2. The riding, driving or leading,
<br />any animal around the corner of any
<br />public street nearer than 6 inches of
<br />the curb.
<br />3. The hitching or stopping any
<br />horse or beast of burden, on the left
<br />hand side of any public street or
<br />alley in said City.
<br />4. The leaving of any horse, or
<br />other beast of burden standing on any
<br />public street or alley, without being
<br />securely tied or held by some person
<br />in charge thereof.
<br />5. The leaving of any wagon, bug-
<br />gy or other horse-drawn vehicle'
<br />standing on any public street, without
<br />horses or other such animals being
<br />hitched thereto, for a longer period
<br />than five hours.
<br />6. The running or operating of
<br />any automobile, motorcycle or bi-
<br />cycle on the left hand side of any
<br />public street or alley in the City of
<br />Colton.
<br />7. The running or driving of
<br />any automobile, motorcycle or bi-
<br />cycle around the corner of any public
<br />street nearer than 6 inches of the
<br />curb corner.
<br />8. The leaving of any automobile,
<br />motorcycle or bicycle standing on the
<br />left hand side of any public street or
<br />alley in said city.
<br />9, The leaving of any horse or
<br />horse drawn vehicle, or any automo-
<br />bile, motorcycle or bicycle standing on
<br />any public street or alley in said city
<br />at a greater distance from the curb
<br />than two feet, and all such vehicles
<br />shall be stopped standing parallel to
<br />said curb.
<br />10. The driving of any horse or
<br />other animal to any vehicle, or the
<br />operating or driving any automobile,
<br />motorcycle or bicycle on any public
<br />street or alley in said city between
<br />one• half hour after sunset and one
<br />half hour before sunrise without
<br />lights as herein provided.
<br />All horse, or other animal drawn
<br />vehicles shall have at least one light
<br />placed on such vehicle in a conspic-
<br />uous place, and all automobiles, mo-
<br />torcycles and other motor propelled
<br />vehicles shall have at least one light
<br />placed on the front of such vehicle
<br />and one light on the rear 6f such ve-
<br />hicle, and all bicycles shall have at
<br />least one light thereon, and all ve-
<br />hicles above described shall have
<br />such lights lighted when on the pub-
<br />lic streets and alleys of said city dur-
<br />ing said hours.
<br />Section II
<br />No automobile, motorcycle or other
<br />motor propelled vehicle shall be op-
<br />erated on any public street or alley
<br />in said city without havng the ex-
<br />haust from such motor properly
<br />muffled, and any such vehicle shall be
<br />deemed to be improperly muffled that
<br />does not have the most approved
<br />mufflers thrreon.
<br />Section III
<br />No vehicle of any kind shall bedriv-
<br />en or propelled over the public streets
<br />or alleys in that portion of the city
<br />of Colton east of Tenth street; north
<br />of D street; west of Second street;
<br />and south of "N" street, at a greater
<br />speed than twenty (20) miles per
<br />hour.
<br />And no vehicle of any kind shall
<br />be operated or driven on the public
<br />streets or alleys within the district
<br />bounded by said streets at a greater
<br />speed than fifteen (15) miles per
<br />hour.
<br />Section IV
<br />That all persons in riding, driving
<br />or leading any animals or running or
<br />operating any automobile, motorcy-
<br />cle, bicycle on any public street of
<br />the City of Colton shall, in passing
<br />from the right hand side of the street
<br />to the opposite side of any cyoss
<br />street, pass to the right of the center
<br />of the street intersection.
<br />Section V
<br />That all vehicles of every kind shall'
<br />be stopped on the right hand side
<br />of the street or alley and shall not be
<br />stopped within twelve (12) feet of
<br />any fire hydrant or curb corner of
<br />the City of Colton.
<br />The right hand or left hand side of
<br />.public streets and alleys shall be de-
<br />termined by the direction in which
<br />any animal, person or vehicle is trav-
<br />eling, or the direction in which it is
<br />headed.
<br />Secton VI
<br />No vehicle of any kind shall be left
<br />standing on the public streets or al-
<br />leys of the City of Colton, in the
<br />night time, without having the lights
<br />hereinbefore provided for, properly
<br />lighted.
<br />Clection VII
<br />Each and every violation of any
<br />provision of this ordinance shall con-
<br />stitute a misdemeanor, and every per-
<br />son found guilty of a violation of Sec-
<br />tion three (3) shall be tined not less
<br />than five dollars ($5.00) and nottoex-
<br />ceed $100 for each offense; and ev-
<br />ery person found guilty of a viola-
<br />tion of any other provisions hereof
<br />shall be fined in the sum of not less
<br />than two dollars ($2.00) nor more
<br />than fifty dollars ($50.00).
